A good friend of mine graduated with an electronics degree and landed a great job at Honeywell. I graduated a year later, and with an industrywide hiring freeze in effect, I was lucky to find a good job at a local mom-and-pop TV repair shop. And here I am, over 28 years later.

Do you remember Wally Woofers? I was with ABQ's West Coast Sound for five years before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada. I continued to make a living repairing televisions, working for Walt's Mobile TV Repair, Japan Video, and Audio Video Specialist.

I was the lead TV repair technician for Ultimate Electronics for ten years. Married with children and realizing we didn't want to raise them in Vegas, we decided to move back to New Mexico, where we started Master Television Service back in 2004. This is a transcript of an Albuquerque Tribune article that was picked up by several news outlets across the country in 2007.

Being mobile has taken us to some fun places in New Mexico, including American Airlines at the ABQ Sunport. We were met at an air cargo gate and escorted around the planes to make our way to the baggage handlers' breakroom where we repaired their Samsung LCD television.

We also had a great time in the Johnson Center at UNM when we repaired an LG plasma television for the Lady Lobos volleyball team. We received permission to take some pictures, as seen above and in our photo gallery.

Before the introduction of modern flat panel televisions, manufacturers provided us with a TV repair manual that contained detailed schematics and advanced troubleshooting information. With the rise of Chinese-based manufacturing, the service information provided today is very basic. Detailed TV schematics are hard to come by, and troubleshooting information is limited.

That's why we are part of a nationwide network of television repair shops and factory-trained electronics technicians involved in finding component-level TV repairs. We maintain a database of over 250,000 successful repairs and have access to specialized technical websites where information is shared among qualified service centers. Often, this allows us to give you a free estimate right over the phone.
